Bonus Chapter 01: Jewelry Photography on Black Backgrounds

Black backgrounds are so hard to shoot, or are they?

This is the first of our bonus chapters that we created after talking to jewelers and designers at a recent trade show.  Jewelry photography with a black background are normally created by shooting against actual black backgrounds, black felt, black walls, or just by masking out the backgrounds in Photoshop.

No matter how you attempt it, black background photography is difficult; that is, unless you are using a flash setup.

In this bonus chapter, we will explain a trick of light that you probably already know about, and how to use it to create black background photos with crisp edges.

We didn't create a sample video for this bonus track, but you're sure to love it.

By the way, it's because of this bonus track that we renamed this edition from version 2 to version 2.1.
